Maximise your LinkedIn Impact… In your Lunch Break!

Four ways to improve your networking ability through social media

LinkedIn is one of the most valuable business networking resources – not just in the social media sphere, but anywhere. It is going from strength to strength. So if you’re looking for a way to maximise your impact and market yourself successfully, we’ve put together a list of four things you can do that will boost your profile. Best of all, they won’t take up too much time!

1. Fill in the blanks

LinkedIn isn’t a ‘set and forget’ kind of strategy for personal promotion. Your work experiences evolves on an almost daily basis, so ensuring that your profile is up-to-date and not missing any crucial information is a basic but effective way to enhance your impact.

2. Connect

How many times in your life has an amazing opportunity sprung from the most unlikely place? Broadening your LinkedIn network is the fastest way to open yourself up to these kinds of opportunities. Facebook is the place for culling fringe-dwellers. LinkedIn is the place to embrace them.

3. Respond

Even if an opportunity or message is of no value to you personally, always respond to those who contact you. You never know who you’re going to run into in the future, especially if your industry is small, and if the only piece of information they have about you is that you never responded to a request, it’s not the greatest foot to start off on.

4. Clean Up

Tidy up your profile and do a once-over for grammar slip-ups, typos and overused clichés. It doesn’t take too much time, but the way you described yourself three years ago when you first set up your profile might be as outdated as the faux-hawk you were sporting in your photo…
